To insure proper unit operation and component life, all Hole Hog® models must be lubricated during use. Allied recommends the use of Allied Hog-Wash. Hog-Wash is a specially formulated pneumatic tool lubricant, which also contains an anti-icing additive. The use of Hog Wash is particularly important when temperatures fall below 60°(F). Icing problems can occur particularly when weather conditions are cool and damp.
Proper lubrication begins by pouring approximately 2 ounces of Hog Wash into the air supply hose at the compressor end and at every 100 feet intervals. This pre-coats the inside walls of the hose allowing the Hog Wash mist from the lubricator to quickly reach the Hole Hog® unit. After several minutes of operation at the proper lubrication rate, you should observe a light film of lubricant on the whip hose. If the whip hose is heavily coated or if no lubrication mist is present, adjust the rate accordingly.
