Hy-Ram® Underwater Usage |
 |
The following Hy-Ram models are prepared "in principle only" for underwater applications:
745CS*, 750CS, 755CS, 755B, 770CS, 775CS, 775B, 785CS, 785B, 795CS, 797CS, 797B, 805CS, 805B, 905CS, 905B
* Alteration to "CS" box bracket also required for 745CS. Contact Allied's Technical Support Department for details.
Underwater operation is possible only after the Hy-Ram is modified with an underwater kit. The purpose of these modifications is to keep water from entering the Hy-Ram’s percussion chamber. It is imperative that water not be allowed to reach the percussion chamber, otherwise damage can occur to the wiper, seals, piston, and cylinder and could also result in water penetrating the excavator’s hydraulics.
The terms of Allied’s warranty exclude any damage to the Hy-Ram’s percussive components incurred as a result of water ingression in the percussion chamber.
The underwater kit is designed to supply compressed air into the percussion chamber. An adjustable pressure regulator maintains a pressure greater than that of the water pressure. A pressure sensitive switch prevents Hy-Ram operation whenever the compressor is shut off or if the air pressure falls below the required measurement.
For further details on operating Hy-Rams underwater consult the Operator’s Manual or contact Allied’s Technical Service Department.
